New To the Street Comments on President Obama’s Proclamation for Financial Capability
New To The Street puts in perspective what the U.S. Treasury and F.D.I.C. are doing to answer President Obama’s call for Americans to improve their financial capability. The President states, “Americans’ ability to build a secure future for themselves and their families requires the navigation of an increasingly complex financial system… our Nation’s prosperity will ultimately depend on our willingness as individuals to empower ourselves and our families with financial knowledge.” Increased corporate responsibility for financial education is needed to combat financial illiteracy. New To The Street discusses the core competencies released by the Financial Literacy and Education Commission whose members include the Department of Education and now include the new C.F.P.B.
